Well it appears Fall is upon us. You can feel it in the air – shorter days, cooler nights, but we are enjoying beautiful day time sun and breezes – we will hope this continues for a while.
We are coming back slowly here at LRW, and miss those who haven’t returned to in-person Church services yet. At this time, there is no masking and although we have no rules for distancing, it is obvious that we are all continuing to be careful and respectful of others. We hope to see you back with us soon.
Our financial situation is a little below where we had hoped to be, but with many special services ahead, we hope to gain momentum in the coming months.
Maintenance work continues here at our building. We have had a water leak in the north-west rooms of the basement, but feel that is now fixed and will wait until late October, after some additional rainfall, to reinstall carpeting in the Nursery area.
As noted previously, we require roof repair to the back section over the kitchen and that work will be done here in September as well as repairing the flat roof section over the front entry.
Pastor Roxanne will be travelling to St. Andrew’s College in Saskatoon in mid-October to continue her education in her 3rd “Learning Circle”. Reading and assignments have begun this month in preparation for these studies. This unit is called “The Community’s Story” and will focus on biblical stories, preaching, United Church history and theology, worship and sacraments.
Pastor Roxanne will away from October 16th through October 30th.
Please contact the church at 519-542-2084 or Clerk of Session with pastoral care concerns during this time. Special thanks to Rev. Jill Roger’s for taking services during this time.
London Road West will not be putting on our Annual Roast Beef Dinner this year but will host the same dinner in partnership with the Lambton Centre. I have enclosed the Roast Beef Dinner announcement and hope that everyone will continue to support the dinner and the Lambton Centre. Please let family and friends know of this upcoming event. If you have volunteered in the past and are willing to help out by volunteering this year, please let me know by contacting me at the Church office 519-542-2084.
